A&M/Virgin/UMeIn honor of International Women’s Day this Sunday, some of music’s biggest female artists have lent their music to Women to the Front, a music-themed microsite on uDiscover Music.
On the site, you’ll find a playlist of hits by female artists and female-fronted groups, including Pat Benatar‘s “Hit Me with Your Best Shot,” Diana Ross‘ “Love Hangover,” Blondie‘s “Heart of Glass,” The Go-Go’s‘ “We Got the Beat,” Janet Jackson‘s “Nasty,” Gloria Gaynor‘s “I Will Survive,” No Doubt‘s “Just a Girl,” Lesley Gore‘s “You Don’t Own Me” and Helen Reddy‘s “I Am Woman.”
You also can purchase vinyl editions of some of the biggest albums ever by women, including Ross’ 1976 self-titled release, Gwen Stefani‘s solo debut Love Angel Music Baby and Jackson’s Control.
In addition to all the music, Women to the Front also celebrates the accomplishments of women in music with interviews with female music-industry movers and shakers and editorial features like “The Best Female Guitarists.”
Among the guitarist-slinging women named in the article: Bonnie Raitt, Melissa Etheridge, Joan Jett, Heart‘s Nancy Wilson, Joni Mitchell, Wendy Melvoin of Prince‘s band The Revolution and The Bangles‘ Vicki Peterson.
