Paramount PicturesWeezer will appear on the soundtrack to the upcoming new SpongeBob SquarePants movie, Sponge on the Run.
Other artists included on the upcoming album include The Flaming Lips, Tyga, Swae Lee, Snoop Dogg, Kenny G and Cyndi Lauper. Both The Flaming Lips and Lauper also wrote songs for the SpongeBob Broadway musical.
Sponge on the Run will premiere on video on demand in early 2021, after which it’ll be available exclusively via CBS All Access. A release date for the soundtrack has yet to be announced.
Weezer, meanwhile, is gearing up to release a new album, Van Weezer. The record, which features the previously released singles “Hero” and “The End of the Game,” was originally slated to drop last May, but has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
