California Surfer Rides 108-foot Wave

California surfer Alessandro “Alo” Slebir rode a 108-foot wave on December 23rd near Half Moon Bay. If confirmed, Slebir will set a new world record. “That wave was so tall that it was sucking so much water coming back at you that it was a weird feeling, feeling the friction of the water underneath the surfboard,” Slebir said of the experience. The title for largest wave surfed is currently held by Sebastian Steudtner, who rode an 86-foot wave off the coast of Portugal. (UPI)
