More than 1 in 3 parents report that their child has dental problems tied to a lack of routine oral hygiene at home, a University of Michigan Health national poll found. Less than one-quarter of kids floss, and only 64% of them brush twice a day or more. As a result, parents report issues like tooth decay, cavities, stained teeth, and gum concerns. The survey polled 1,801 parents with at least one child aged 4 to 17. “Good, consistent oral hygiene practices, in addition to regular dentist visits,” are paramount to healthy gums and teeth, scientist Sarah Clark said.
