36% of American women are behind on receiving a mammogram, and 32% are overdue for a gynecological exam. The survey of 2,000 women also found that 33% of women who are behind on health exams feel anxiety about going to the doctor. Only 24% felt like they knew their heart disease risk. “Heart disease can easily go unnoticed because it can occur without obvious symptoms,” Katie Lucas of Doctor’s Best said. “This is true especially for women because their symptoms can differ from those experienced by men or they can be completely asymptomatic.” After menopause, a woman’s risk of heart disease increases.
