Study Shows Women Improve Anger Management Skills with Age

A recent study published in the journal Menopause reveals that women tend to become better at managing their anger as they age, particularly starting in middle-age. While women may experience more intense feelings of anger as they grow older, they are also less likely to express it outwardly or act with hostility. Researchers analyzed data from 271 women participating in the Seattle Midlife Women’s Health Study, noting that as women age, they become more adept at handling anger despite feeling it more acutely. This improved anger management may be linked to a sense of generativity and maturity that comes with aging. Further research is needed to explore emotion regulation and anger management strategies in women’s everyday lives. (Upi)
