Dan Pelzer, who passed away at 92, compiled a 109-page list of over 5,000 books he read since 1962. His family considered sharing the list at his funeral but opted to create a website, What Dan Read, instead. Pelzer’s love for reading began during his time in the Peace Corps in Nepal, where he documented every book he read. Despite his vast reading repertoire, he favored John Grisham over James Joyce, finding the latter’s work “pure torture.” Pelzer’s daughter highlighted his lifelong love for the Columbus Metropolitan Library, where he was a dedicated patron. Donations in Pelzer’s memory were suggested for the Kinship Community Food Center. (People)
