Tennessee Tech University engineering students designed and built a custom all-terrain wheelchair — nicknamed the “Chariot” — for Nashville State Community College student Michael Vhan McGuire, who was paralyzed in a 2024 motorcycle crash.
Using components from motorized mountain bikes, the off-road device can handle rugged terrain and lets McGuire return to the outdoor activities he loves. The project was part of a hands-on dynamics and machinery course that pairs real-world challenges with student engineering skills.
