In Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, a 12-year-old girl noticed a structure fire before emergency crews arrived and went back inside to pull her 72-year-old relative—who had limited mobility—out of the burning house while a sibling called 911. Here’s the girl before emergency personnel arrive:
Caller: “We do have an injured.”
Dispatcher: “Okay, one of you is injured? Everybody’s out of the house, but somebody’s injured?”
Caller: “Yes, ma’am.”
Dispatcher: “How bad are they injured?”
Caller: “She has severe burns on her neck. She’s 72 and she’s crippled.”
Dispatcher: “And she’s crippled?”
Caller: “Yes, ma’am.”Both were treated for burns and taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center; the older woman has significant but stable injuries, and the girl suffered minor burns. Fire officials credited the child’s actions with likely saving a life.
