When 89-year-old Mickey McKinney slipped while moving his snowblower and couldn’t get up, he didn’t have a phone or an easy way to call for help. So he did the only thing left. He yelled.
Thankfully, someone heard him. It just wasn’t a person at first. A seven-year-old rescue dog named Rosa next door started barking like something was wrong and got her owner’s attention. That led Linda outside and got help to Mickey quickly.
McKinney, a former police officer, says he has never been on the other side of an emergency like that. He made sure Rosa received a few extra treats afterward.
Sometimes the hero next door has four legs and a very good sense of hearing.
