The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded $590 million dollars to Moderna to help develop vaccines to protect humans against flus found in cows and birds. There has been increased concern regarding bird flu, with Georgia recently confirming a case in Elbert County. “Avian flu variants have proven to be particularly unpredictable and dangerous to humans in the past,” HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra said on Friday.
