Champagne Sales Are Sinking

Champagne shipments have fallen by nearly 10% since last year, according to Comité Champagne. The co-president of the association, Maxime Toubart, said this is because this is “no time for celebration, with inflation, conflicts around the world, economic uncertainty and a political wait-and-see attitude.” Rémy Cointreau, which owns Champagne Telmont, also released a report forecasting a decline in sales. Some houses are focusing on environmentally friendly farming techniques to attract planet-conscious customers. (CNN)
