Most Women Skip Treatment For Menopause Symptoms

Nearly 84% of women don’t seek medical care for menopause symptoms despite widespread discomfort, according to a new Mayo Clinic study published in Mayo Clinic Proceedings. Researchers surveyed almost 5,000 women aged 45 to 60 across four Mayo Clinic primary care locations. More than one-third reported moderate to very severe symptoms, with sleep disturbances affecting 55% and weight gain impacting 52%. Most women preferred managing symptoms alone (65%), while 37% cited being too busy for treatment. However, 22% weren’t aware of effective treatments and 18% felt embarrassed.
