An 11-year-old Wilson County student is already an accomplished author and shows no signs of slowing down. Meg Berryman, who began writing at age 9, has published two books and is currently working on the third installment of a planned five-book series centered on her love of wolves.
Inspired by a children’s writing app and later moving her work to Google Docs, Berryman took the initiative to outline, write, and complete her stories largely on her own. While she enjoys the creative side of writing, she admits editing was the toughest part. With help from her parents on revisions, Meg retained full creative control and learned firsthand how much work goes into finishing a book.
Beyond writing, Berryman is also learning the business side of publishing, selling her books at local markets and intentionally keeping prices affordable for kids her age. She is scheduled to appear at another market in Gallatin this April as she continues work on her growing series.
