If you need a reason to smile today, meet Black Pearl.
She’s a mini therapy horse, and her specialty is not exactly what you’d expect. When her friends are nervous about getting a cast put on, Pearl sits down at a keyboard and plays. Yes, plays. The little musician knows that casts can be scary and uncomfortable, so she steps in with her own brand of distraction therapy.
Her latest patient was a pal named Tommy, and by the looks of it, Pearl’s bedside manner was exactly what the doctor ordered.
The folks at Mini Therapy Horses have been doing this kind of work for years, bringing comfort to hospitals, first responders, and community events all over the country. But there’s something about a horse the size of a Golden Retriever tapping out a tune for a friend in need that just hits different.
Proof that kindness comes in all shapes, all sizes, and sometimes with hooves.
