Ostego Entertainment GroupStatic-X has premiered a new song called “Hollow,” featuring vocals from the late Wayne Static.
The fresh cut, which is available now for digital download, was recorded by the original Static-X lineup — bassist Tony Campos, guitarist Koichi Fukuda and drummer Ken Jay — around an unreleased vocal recording from Static’s archives.
“Hollow” is the first preview of Project Regeneration, a whole new Static-X albums featuring vocals and compositions left behind by Static prior to his death in 2014. Initially conceived as a single record, Project Regeneration will now be released in multiple parts, with the first volume due out on May 29.
“We’ve been working on a lot of material over the last year and a half,” the band says. “While selecting the songs to move into the final mix phase of Project [Regeneration], it became clear that there is just too much material and too little time for this to be a single album.”
Last summer, Static-X launched a tour in memory of Static and to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the group’s 1999 debut album, Wisconsin Death Trip. Lead vocals were handled by a masked, unidentified singer referred to as Xer0.
