Officially called Kid Rock’s Big A** Honky Tonk & Rock n’ Roll Steakhouse, the establishment is one of several in Nashville owned by restaurateur Steve Smith. According to ABC Nashville affiliate WKRN, Smith had initially fought against Nashville Mayor John Cooper‘s mandate to close all bars and restaurants in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.
“The request made by Mayor Cooper is unconstitutional as he is targeting a select group of businesses,” Smith said in a statement.
However, WKRN now reports that Smith decided Monday to comply with the mandate and close.
Kid Rock himself has yet to publicly comment.
