Credit: Jeremy SafferStatic-X has shared a new song called “All These Years,” featuring vocals from late frontman Wayne Static.
The track, available now for digital download, is accompanied by a video, starring an actor playing a young Static as he watches footage of his future self. You can watch it now streaming on YouTube.
“It’s very challenging to represent someone in a music video, who is no longer alive, but that was something that we really wanted to do and I think it came out great,” says drummer Ken Jay.
“These are some of Wayne’s last works, so we really wanted to make this video all about him and to continue to celebrate his life and legacy,” he adds. “What better way to do that than through a fun, fictional story about how Wayne was inspired to become the legend that he became through Static-X.”
“All These Years” will appear on the upcoming album Project Regeneration Vol. 1, due out July 10. It consists of newly recorded instrumentals from the original Static-X lineup accompanying Static’s final vocal recordings.
Last summer, Static-X launched a tour in memory of Static and to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the group’s 1999 debut album, Wisconsin Death Trip. Lead vocals were handled by a masked, unidentified singer referred to as Xer0.
