You know how prom night is supposed to be the most memorable night of the year? For students at Pauls Valley High School in Oklahoma, this year’s prom was that — for a reason nobody expected.
Two weeks ago, their principal, Kirk Moore, ran toward danger. A former student entered the school armed with multiple weapons. Moore tackled him. Helped disarm him. Got shot in the leg in the process. No students were hurt. Authorities say Moore’s actions likely prevented a mass shooting.
So when prom night came around… the students knew exactly what to do.
They voted him prom king.
Moore walked out to cheers, applause, and a gym full of kids who wanted him to know they see him — not just as their principal, but as the guy who made sure they got to be there at all.
One student said it best: “He really is just a savior for our little town.”
We needed that one today.
