When Nico spotted something under his brother’s bed in the middle of the night, he didn’t panic. He had a plan. He grabbed his Nerf gun, put on his helmet and gloves, and dialed 911.
When the officer arrived, Nico answered the door fully geared up and ready. He explained the situation clearly: monster, brother’s room, big black teeth. His parents were asleep and this could not wait.
The officer didn’t laugh. He assessed the situation, asked Nico if they should handle it themselves or bring in the SWAT team, and then followed the kid into the room.
He reached under the bed and grabbed the monster by the neck. It was his brother’s toy — a light-up figure that made a noise when its mouth opened. Reasonable mistake. Terrifying in the dark.
The officer removed the threat, offered one piece of advice — next time, wake up mom and dad — and then handed Nico an honorary SWAT team badge for the bravery he showed while scared.
Somewhere, Nico’s parents woke up the next morning to a kid wearing a SWAT badge and had a lot of questions.
