Debbie’s husband died of pancreatic cancer after she spent his final months caring for him full time. Then things got worse. A contractor took a $2,000 deposit and disappeared. A neighbor wrecked her car and never paid for it. She fell three months behind on rent. Some nights she and her dogs went without food.
Nobody stepped in until an Uber driver named Zach helped her carry groceries to her door. He saw enough to know she needed help, and he reached out to Spencer, a landscaper who runs the SB Mowing YouTube channel.
Spencer and his father spent two days clearing her overgrown property. They bought everything she’d set aside for a yard sale so she wouldn’t have to run it herself, then donated it to Habitat for Humanity. They paid three months of back rent.
Word got out, and a fundraiser took off. So far it’s raised more than $650,000, all of it going into a trust set up just for Debbie.
One Uber driver paying attention turned into a community lifting a stranger back up. That’s the whole story right there.
